The Swedish carmaker has just announced that all new Volvos from 2019 will be coupled with electrification of some sort and that pure ICEs would eventually become history. As well, Volvo wants to reduce CO2 of its products and aims to have climate-neutral operations by 2025 – the year it hopes to sell one million electrified vehicles annually. Another one that is coming with plug-in hybrid tech, based on the 2.0-litre petrol engine with turbocharging and supercharging technologies, in the near future is the XC60. Just this week, Mercedes-Benz has announced plans for a new battery plant in China to serve its electrified vehicles in the world’s largest car market.
